Welcome to Ryūtōkai’s (粒刀会) homepage.

Ryūtōkai (a registered non-profit association) was founded in 2008 to promote Japanese martial art tradition and culture in Jyväskylä, Central Finland. Ryūtōkai is a member of the Finnish Kendo Association and Kesli. In the name ryū stands for grain (jyvä), tō for sword and kai for association. Suiō ryū Iai Kenpō, Kendō and Iaidō are practised at Ryūtōkai.

Training at Ryūtōkai is organised at our own dōjō, the Suiō ryū Iai Kenpō Ōko-dōjō (水鷗流居合剣法鷗湖道場). The address is Konttisentie 8, 40800 Jyväskylä, Finland.

If you are interested in Suiō ryū, please contact us directly to start training. Basic courses in Kendō are organised three times a year usually in February, June and September. The desire to  learn is enough to start training – no previous experience, equipment or skills are needed.

Membership and fees

If you are on a basic course of kendo or have just joined the association as a new member, use the following link to join the association in Suomisport.

A regular member’s membership fee for a year is 300€, which can be divided into 2-3 payments. Join using the Suomisport link as a regular member.

Support

You can also become a supporting member, gaining access to communications and meetings of the association while supporting the association. The supporting member’s membership fee is 100€ for a year. Join using the Suomisport link.
